Roxane is a visual artist and designer. Her work takes two approaches: one methodologically driven and precise, the other more gestural and spontaneous. Both are imbued with the essential elements of the moment, prioritising: light, shadow, colour value and mark making. Details are observed and pared back to their visual core, evoking a mood, or feeling, rather than an exact representation.
Roxane’s current work is an evolution of her extensive background in international design. Recent years have seen a flourishing exploration of fine art techniques and subjects, initially to bring deeper dimensions to traditional design approaches, and then as a means unto itself. Themes explored include the disassembly of design motifs and illustration methods, tapping the freedom of fine art modes of expression. Inspiration is drawn from her natural lived environment and the human form.
Based in both Melbourne and Sorrento, Roxane has a Bachelor of Arts and a Certificate in Advanced Life drawing from RMIT and a Certificate III in Visual Arts from the Northern College of Arts and Technology. She exhibits in Melbourne. |
