Elise Hogan is an artist who lives and works in Bendigo, Victoria. Elise holds a bachelor of Graphic Design and diploma of Education specialising in Primary and Secondary Arts from the University of Latrobe. Whilst raising her two young sons she works in the studio completing commissions and series of works. Elise paints, illustrates, writes children’s picture books and creates visual imagery of many kinds. With her husband David a carpenter by trade they manage and own Evolv Homes in which Elise’s creative eye is used for interiors with clients. Elise’s works are a exploration of the language of paint - colour, texture and different brushstroke. She works intuitively directly on the canvas, with gestural mark making and layers built upon layers, each piece an individual journey. Familiar themes of shapes, linework and repetition are abstracted and weaved into her paintings. She likes to explore different figurative types and bold shapes. Her work is a balance of careful consideration and playfulness.
